- Receipt and inspection of materials at the workshop or project site.
Fabrication and Construction
- Fabrication & Field Assembly/Erection:
- Cutting and rolling of steel plates.
- Lifting, aligning, and welding tank components at the project site.
- Welding of main sections (shell, bottom, roof) in accordance with Quality Assurance/Control (QA/QC) procedures.
- Assembly in the workshop or on-site, following established methods and welding sequences.
- Installation of accessories (nozzles, instrumentation, ladders, railings, etc.).
- Testing & Quality Control:
- Visual inspections and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of welding joints.
- Hydrostatic testing (leak and strength test using high-pressure water).
- Inspection and verification of dimensions, thickness, and anti-corrosion systems (coating, cathodic protection).
Commissioning & Documentation
- Commissioning: Trial operation of all systems (filling/emptying, instruments, safety systems such as fire fighting and alarms).
- Documentation: Preparation of as-built drawings, Manufacture Data Report (MDR), operation and maintenance manuals, and tank test certificates.
- Training: Operational training for owner’s staff.
Handover & Final Acceptance
Formal handover of the storage tank to the project owner along with all legal documentation, after-sales warranty, and support services.
Competitive Advantages
- Certified materials All primary materials used—such as steel plates, structural supports, and complementary components like valves—are sourced from verified vendors and always accompanied by official material test certificates. This guarantees complete traceability and full compliance with applicable standards such as API, ASME, and SNI, including requirements set forth by API 650 or ASME Section VIII.
- Advanced fabrication technology and facilities The workshop is equipped with machinery for cutting, forming, and welding, and further supported by digital systems for design and project management. Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols are implemented to ensure that every tank produced meets safety and operational standards. The use of non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrotesting, and modern inspection tools—including drone documentation for hard-to-reach areas—further guarantees product integrity and enhances overall safety.
- Compliance with international safety standards (API, ASME, SNI)
API (American Petroleum Institute): API 650 governs the design, fabrication, installation, and inspection of welded steel storage tanks for petroleum and other liquids. This standard is globally recognized for above-ground tanks, encompassing requirements for materials, design methodology, corrosion protection, and testing. For periodic maintenance and repairs, API 653 is also referenced.
ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers): ASME Section VIII establishes the design and construction codes for pressure vessels, which also includes spherical and high-pressure tanks. Adherence to this standard ensures safety for both normal and extreme operating conditions.
SNI (Indonesian National Standard): In Indonesia, SNI 03-1746-1989 regulates the planning of above-ground oil storage tanks, while SNI 13-3501-2002 sets forth requirements for fuel storage facility construction, including fire safety, environmental, and civil aspects. These SNI standards align with API and ASME to form the legal and technical foundation for industrial tank fabrication in Indonesia.

PT Tri Daya Maxima offers storage tank fabrication service for various types and sizes according to industrial needs.
You can read a description of the storage tank below.
What is a Storage Tank?
Storage Tank is a container that holds liquid, gas or compressed media used for hot or cold storage in the short or long term. This term can be used for both the reservoir, and for the container that is being manufactured.
There are 2 (two) main purposes for using storage tanks. The first is to provide storage volume and the second is to put pressure on the distribution system.
A particular tank can serve one or two purposes depending on its location within the system and the type of configuration.
Storage Tank Construction Materials
The construction materials for various types of tanks, in general, are concrete and steel. Although some tanks can be used for small storage volumes and for special use they are made of fiberglass.
The operation of storage tanks is essential for maintaining water flow to the distribution system to meet household, commercial or industrial needs and for fire protection.
Storage tank size depends on its function. Each distribution system has unique storage requirements.
Other factors, such as cost, also play an important role in determining the size of a storage tank. Storage tanks must be inspected, cleaned and repaired regularly to ensure reliable operation.
Storage Tank Types
Basically there are 8 (eight) types of storage tanks, namely :
- Fixed-roof tanks
- External floating roof tanks
- Internal floating roof tanks
- Domed external floating roof tanks
- Horizontal tanks
- Pressure tanks
- Variable vapor space tanks
- LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tanks
